What is the minimum yard size required for an Invisible Fence® Brand GPS dog fence?

Our GPS Flex™ Fence is best for smaller properties, at least 1/2 acre. The original Invisible Fence® GPS dog fence is ideal for properties 3/4 acre or larger, and is best suited for larger dogs with necks measuring 15-28 inches.

Will trees or buildings interfere with the fence's signal?

Yes, they can. All GPS collars require a clear connection to satellites to track your dog accurately. For the best performance, your boundary lines should avoid dense tree coverage or tall structures. We recommend placing "digital fence posts" (the points where you turn the boundary) at least 25 feet away from any structure for every story of height.

How close can I set the boundary to dangerous areas like roads, or water?

Because GPS signals can naturally shift slightly (drift) due to satellite positioning, boundaries should be placed at least 25 feet back from any hazard, including roads, unwanted or dangerous bodies of water, or steep terrain. This buffer ensures your pet stays safe even if the signal varies.
